Lake Charles announces outreach event and celebration for Veterans Day

The City of Lake Charles has released details about several events planned for Veterans Day 2025. The schedule includes activities designed to honor veterans and provide resources to them and their families.

On Saturday, November 1, from 9 a.m. to noon, the Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission, in partnership with the Alexandria, La. Veterans Center, will hold a Veterans Outreach Event at the Lake Charles Event Center Coliseum at 900 Lakeshore Dr. This event is free and open to all veterans and their families. Organizers say there will be vendors offering services specifically for veterans, though some may require documentation such as discharge papers or medical records.

On Tuesday, November 11 at 10 a.m., the City’s annual Veterans Day Celebration will take place at Veterans Memorial Park on Lakeshore Drive. Major General Keith Waddell (USA & LANG RETIRED) is scheduled as this year’s guest speaker. The program also includes a musical tribute honoring all branches of the military.

Event sponsors include the City of Lake Charles, The Johnson Firm, Port of Lake Charles, Neurosurgery Consultants, Cascio Sports & Orthopaedics, Optimum, Acadian Ambulance Service, Chick-fil-A, CHRISTUS/Ochsner, Lindsay Cutler State Farm, Lake Charles Toyota, Ward 3 Marshal’s Office and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
