The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office STAT Unit (Specialized Tactics and Training) attended the 2026 Louisiana Tactical Police Officers Association Annual Training Conference, hosted by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office from May 4 through May 8, according to a May 14 announcement.
The annual conference gathers tactical officers and specialized units from across Louisiana for advanced training, scenario-based exercises, and continuing education. The event is designed to help participants improve their skills and strengthen teamwork among law enforcement agencies.
During the week-long conference, members of the STAT Unit trained with other professionals in the field. They participated in sessions focused on sharing best practices and learning about new techniques and technologies that can contribute to safer and more effective operations.
“We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and resolve our STAT Unit demonstrated not only during the conference, but in the months of preparation leading up to it. Their commitment to excellence reflects the high standards of our agency and the deep responsibility we carry in serving and protecting the citizens of Jefferson Davis Parish,” said Sheriff Kyle C. Miers.
Participation in such conferences provides deputies with updated knowledge that can be applied within their own department as well as when working alongside other agencies.
