Congressman Clay Higgins has announced that the Maritime Administration (MARAD) will grant a license to Delfin LNG for the construction and operation of a deepwater port facility. This facility, located 37 to 41 miles off the coast of Cameron Parish, Louisiana, will enable the export of up to 1.8 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas as liquefied natural gas (LNG).

“We are following through on our promise to unleash America’s energy potential,” stated Congressman Higgins. He emphasized his office’s support for expanding the LNG industry and highlighted South Louisiana’s role in economic and energy prosperity. “Each of these projects provides good-paying jobs and growth for our communities.”

In December 2024, Congressman Higgins urged incoming U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright to overturn the LNG permitting moratorium and expedite application reviews. Recently, the Department of Energy has moved forward with key projects in South Louisiana, including Delfin LNG, Commonwealth LNG, and Venture Global’s CP2 LNG.
