Dean Day has been appointed as the new director of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at McNeese State University, effective Feb. 1, according to an April 1 announcement. Day previously served as a business consultant with the center and has experience assisting small business owners with startups, sales planning, financial projections, and insurance compliance.
Day was recently recognized at the LSBDC Professional Development Meeting in Baton Rouge with the Business Start Award for helping launch 30 new businesses in 2025—the highest number among consultants statewide. He was also acknowledged for facilitating over $4 million in capital infusion for businesses in Southwest Louisiana.
The LSBDC at McNeese operates from the Henning SEED Center and offers no-cost confidential consulting and affordable training to entrepreneurs. Its services include one-on-one guidance and access to market research aimed at supporting informed decision-making and long-term success for small businesses across Calcasieu, Cameron, Allen, Jeff Davis, and Beauregard parishes.
The LSBDC network is hosted by Louisiana State University and receives funding through a cooperative agreement involving the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Louisiana Economic Development, and participating universities such as McNeese State University. The program is supported by federal funding with all SBA programs extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis.
