The City of Lake Charles is organizing a community event in celebration of Earth Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at Hillcrest Park, located at 2808 Hillcrest Drive. The event, titled #ReTreeLC, is part of the City’s Partners in Parks Initiative.

Designed as an educational experience, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive lessons about the importance of trees. The event also includes activities such as creating art in the park and enjoying free refreshments. Organizers have announced that each participant will receive a free tree to plant at home, as long as supplies last.

The City has coordinated with various partners for the event, including the UPS Foundation, Big Brown Cares, the SWLA Master Naturalists, and Lake Charles Coca-Cola. These collaborations underscore the community-focused and engaging nature of the event.

The #ReTreeLC event is open to the public and family-friendly, ensuring a welcoming experience for all community members. Additional information can be obtained by contacting 337-491-1280 or via email at parks@cityoflc.us.
