The City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks Department is bringing back Skatember, a series of themed roller skating nights scheduled throughout September. The events will be held at the Lake Charles Event Center Coliseum, except for the first night, which will take place outdoors on the Gill Street extension near Millennium Park.

Admission to the indoor events on September 9, 14, and 23 is $5. Those aged 16 and under must attend with an adult. The opening Outdoor Family Night on September 5 offers free admission and allows non-motorized scooters in addition to skates.

Each event has a different theme: Country Western on September 5 from 5–8 p.m., R&B Night on September 9 from 5–8 p.m., Glow Party on September 14 from 3–6 p.m., and Back to the ’80s Adult Night (18+) on September 23 from 5–8 p.m.

Concessions will be available for purchase at all events. KBYS will provide music and broadcast live during each evening. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes that match each theme, but skates are not provided by organizers. Only non-motorized roller and inline skates are allowed.
