Lake Charles Expected to be Home for National Center of Excellence for Liquefied Natural Gas Safety

US Senator John Kennedy revealed that Lake Charles is expected to be the location for the National Center of Excellence for Liquefied Natural Gas Safety. The announcement came after US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg assured Senator Kennedy of his support for the project during a meeting of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Development, and Related Agencies.
Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter expressed his enthusiasm for the news, stating, "This is very exciting and welcoming news for the City of Lake Charles and the entire Southwest Louisiana region." Mayor Hunter highlighted Lake Charles' significance in the LNG industry, saying, "Lake Charles has earned its seat at the global table when it comes to the LNG industry."
Mayor Hunter also expressed his pride in the city's achievements, mentioning, "I am so honored to have been part of the team that solicited this win for Lake Charles." He emphasized the importance of the upcoming construction of the LNG Center of Excellence on the McNeese State University campus, noting that the National Center of Excellence for Liquefied Natural Gas Safety will further solidify Lake Charles' position in the industry.
Once completed, the National Center of Excellence will focus on promoting and facilitating training, education, and research and development within the LNG sector.
